Greenhouse shelving is a useful way of providing extra storage and growing areas in your greenhouse. They can be particularly effective for displaying trailing plants, especially if there is not enough headroom in the greenhouse for hanging baskets. Shelves may be free-standing or mounted to fit into the glazing channels on the sides or even the roof of the greenhouse. When installing shelves, you will need to consider the amount of shade that they cast on the plants below, and site them accordingly. If you have a small greenhouse, you may want to think about buying shelves that can fold away neatly when not in use; in this way they may be fully utilized in the spring when space may be limited, and packed away for the rest of the year to maximise the amount of light the remaining plants receive. |
