Bricks and clay pavers (also known as paviors) are suitable for laying on terraces, paths, drives and patios. As they are made from clay in different parts of the country, there is a vast array of colours available, which may be used to match the facing brick of the adjoining house, or to harmonise with other hard landscape materials. The surface appearance of brick also varies, from the crisp, shiny surface of an engineering brick to the roughened appearance of a 'tumbled' paver. Concrete pavers also vary greatly in size, colour and thickness. They may be finished in a number of different ways, so that their final shape and texture, either informal and natural or more geometric and formal, can add greatly to the style of the garden. - Choosing Bricks & Pavers
